Aromasin Indications

Aromasin Indications

Aromasin is a medication used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It belongs to a class of drugs known as aromatase inhibitors, which work by lowering estrogen levels in the body. This can help slow or stop the growth of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer cells.

Indications for Aromasin

Aromasin is typically prescribed for the following indications:

1. Adjuvant Treatment

After surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy, Aromasin may be used as adjuvant treatment to reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence in postmenopausal women with hormone-receptor-positive tumors.

2. Metastatic Breast Cancer

Aromasin is also indicated for the treatment of advanced or metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women whose disease has progressed after tamoxifen therapy.

3. Extended Adjuvant Treatment

In some cases, Aromasin may be prescribed for extended adjuvant treatment beyond the initial five years in postmenopausal women at higher risk of recurrence.

It’s important to follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully when taking Aromasin and to report any side effects or concerns promptly. While Aromasin can be an effective treatment for certain types of breast cancer, it may not be suitable for everyone. Your doctor will determine if this medication is appropriate for your individual case.
